Recognized from miles away, the soaring ‘Lion Rock’ is an archeological wonder and a testament of Sri Lanka’s city planning, water gardens, engineering and fortification in the 5th century AD. Sigiriya was a royal citadel for 18 years (477-495) when it was fortified by King Kasyapa. The rock peak is home to an incredible landscape with lush green gardens and advanced irrigation systems. Declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO, you will be thrilled to see the beautiful frescoes and the fascinating mirror wall of the rock fortress. It is undoubtedly the most treasured historical monument in Sri Lanka
UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa was a medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to 13th century A.D. Take a walking tour through the ruins of ancient Ceylon which includes a visit to Lankathilaka, Thuparamaya, Royal Palace, Rankoth Vehera and Gal Viharaya.
Later in the evening, leave for Minneriya National Park to embark on an evening Safari. Minneriya National Park is one of the best national parks to spot Elephants in Sri Lanka. It is home to 200+ elephants, monkeys, crocodiles and even a handful of leopards.
Kandy was the capital of the last Sri Lankan Kingdom and is surrounded by lush greenery, the Mahaweli River and the Kandy lake. Enjoy the mild climate and the hill country breeze of Kandy. Visit to the world famous Temple of the Tooth where centuries later, the sacred tooth relic of Buddha still remains. And in the evening, enjoy an authentic cultural dance show.
Situated 1868 meters above sea level Nuwara Eliya is refired to as the Little England of Sri Lanka. During the drive relish the endless views of tea carpeted valleys and misty mountains. Visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous “Ceylon Tea” and to taste a pure un-blended cup of fresh Ceylon Tea. Enjoy the serenity including Victoria Park, Gregory Lake and Golf Course, the 125-year-old club, one of Asia’s finest.
Enjoy an evening jeep safari accompanied by a naturalist guide The Yala National Park is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka and is also the most popular one. The park has one of the world’s highest leopard densities. The sloth bear, deer and Asian elephant also can be spotted e a pure un-blended cup of fresh Ceylon Tea. Enjoy the serenity including Victoria Park, Gregory Lake and Golf Course, the 125-year-old club, one of Asia’s finest.
The historic city of Galle offers many interesting sites to visit. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Dutch Fort which was built in 1663 is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument which still retains its colonial charm and is one of the few World Heritage sites in which a bustling population continues to thrive.
