Types of Visas Available for Visitors
All visitors including who arrive here for holiday or business purposes to Sri Lanka will require to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior before entering the country. *The ETA is initially limited to 30 days validity from the date of arrival although it may be extended for up to Six (06) months upon a valid request.

- Tourist Visit Visa – This type of visa is ideal for tourists who wish to enter Sri Lanka for a holiday engaging in sightseeing, relaxation, excursions, and visiting relatives etc. for a short time period. The duration of stay will be granted for 30 days but will be eligible for an extension until 90 days upon request to the Department of Immigration & Emigration.
- Business Purpose Visa – This visa is eligible for foreign nationals who wish to enter Sri Lanka for business purposes, for a short period of time. Applications for visas are accepted from singular or groups pertaining to the purpose of visit.
How to Obtain a Visa?
Before you travel to Sri Lanka, for a 30-Day Visa:
- Apply through the Sri Lanka electronic visa website: Official Website for ETAs
- Follow the online application process and pay the fees.
- Tourist Visa to Sri Lanka costs between USD 20 – 35

- Once approved, print out the visa confirmation. Check ETA Status
- To check the status of the visa you can check it online once submitted using the reference number.
- Visas applications can be submitted to Sri Lankan Missions in your country or online.
- On Arrival Visas are also processed based on the nationality of the applicant.
Extend Your Stay!
